Year 3

 Welcome to Year 3!

Miss Fitzpatrick

Miss Brain and Mrs Tiganov

Please take some time to check out our page to find out what we've been up to!

Our PE lessons are on Wednesday and Thursday this term but children need a full PE kit in school all week. Please ensure that children have a complete indoor and outdoor kit including, a school PE t-shirt, a pair of shorts, a jumper, tracksuit bottoms and trainers. Please make sure all PE kit is clearly named as the children are responsible for their own PE kit.

This term we will focus on dance and football.

I cannot encourage reading enough.  The benefits of reading and being read to are expressed through an increased vocabulary which translates in your children’s writing. As ever, if children read at home four times over the course of a week, they will receive a raffle ticket to be entered into the Reading Raffle to win a book at the end of the term. If children read five times a week, they will receive additional superstar points. However, If they read three times a week or less, they will stay in on Friday breaktime for 15 minutes to read their book. They can read their library book, one of their own books, comics, magazines etc. Please remember an adult still needs to sign the reading diary.

We will be revisiting words from the Year 3/4 list in no particular order. I will continue to send home ten spellings per week.

Multiplication and division facts

Many children have made really good progress on their times tables last term. We will continue to test children weekly. I will move children onto their next set of facts as soon as they are ready.  These facts are incredibly important for your child to learn so we would really appreciate your support with this at home. Please ensure that you also practise all of the facts that your child has already learned because some children do forget previously learned tables. It is the national expectation that children have learned their twos, fives, tens, threes, fours and eights by the end of Year 3. We are hoping to move onto the six times tables, in preparation for Year 4.
