Our PE lessons will take place on a Wednesday and a Friday but PE kits should remain in school all week. This term we will be doing Gymnastics and Multi Skills.

Homework

Please support your child with their Reading and Times Tables at home. Reading diaries should be signed to show that your child has read every day.

Children will recieve topic homework each term. For this homework, children will be able to choose which activities they would like to comeplete at home. At the end of each term, Year 4 will hold a gallery for the children to show the amazing work they have created to the rest of their class. Revision homework will also be given for other subjects.

Term 1 : David Walliams

So far this term we have...

... been learning about Inukshuk in DT and PSHE - "I am putting                                           papier mache on a box to make it look like rock." - Summa

...been practising gymnastics in PE - " I am jumping over Bartosz                                          and he is rolling." - Josh

...been sorting animal types in science - "We are cutting out animals and putting them into a Venn diagram." - Leasha

We had a fantastic afternoon, perfecting our sewing skills.
Thank you to Miss Simpson for demonstrating!

We have been practising our Spanish:

"In the morning, we learned how to count up to 20. Later, we were talking about what we like to do in our spare time. I remember, 'Jeugo con video jeugos,' which means, 'playing video games'. - George and Simon

Autumn art...

"We did some leaf rubbings and drawings. They were to use for our background for our poems". - Luke and Eva

David Walliams Day

We all dressed up as our favourite David Walliams book characters.
See how many you can name!

Don't we look fantastic?!

This term, we are very lucky to have a North Oxfordshire School Sport Partnership PE coach with us to help with our multi-skills.
He we are practising our agility:

Term 2 : Romans

For our topic this term, we will be learning lots of things about the Romans.
Here we are making our own Roman shields.

"We are ripping up tissue and sticking it on to the cardboard. We need to cover it because we are going to paint our shields." - Armagon and Carmella

Here is the result of our art work...

Be afraid...be very afraid!

Term 3: The Iron Man

This afternoon (12th January) we started to put our life-sized model of the Iron Giant together.

"We are using double-sided sticky tape to stick the back of the head. Our group worked on the left arm and we are putting foil on". - Alex and Ryan

 - and here's the finished piece...

Topic Day

"We are having a brilliant day today (10th February). We are designing our own 'Iron Man' themed bookmarks. The people who design the best get to make popcorn to eat while we watch the film later. I have dressed in grey today because I am 'The Iron Man'." - Ryan and Paulina.

Term 4: Roald Dahl

We are very excited about this term's topic, Roald Dahl and have already started researching this fascinating author.

Our Assembly

On Thursday 2nd March, the children presented an assembly to the school and family members. We were really pleased to see so many adults in school to support the children and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Here are a few photographs of our rehearsal:

Chocolate! Chocolate! Chocolate!

This morning (16th March) we had the most fantastic time at the Belflair chocolate factory in Brackley. We learned all about where cocoa pods come from, how the beans are processed and how the chocolate is finally made. There were demonstrations and we got to eat lots of chocolate!

"The man used chocolate to model roses and showed us how to make a teddy." - George
"At the factory, we got to eat some chocolate and found out how it was made." - Taybah

Quentin Blake Art Day

Today (3rd April) we spent most of the day learning about the artist Quentin Blake. After talking about and producing our own colour wheel, we developed our own sketching style based on the work of Roald Dahl's illustrator.

"We drew our own colour wheels. We learned about primary and secondary colours." - Oliver

"I am on the lap-top, making an information page about Quentin Blake." - Alfie

"I tried to sketch a tree but it was too difficult, so I drew the goalposts instead. I kept looking up to see what I was drawing but tried not to take the pen off the whiteboard." - Alex

"This is the Quentin Blake day where we were sketching our partner's face." - Bartosz

The children have been busy in both science and maths.

In science, they have been investigating clouds - learning about measuring and using key vocabulary like 'condensation' and 'evaporation'.

In maths, they have been focusing on telling the time.

Shared Learning

Whilst some of our friends were away at Shortenills, we enjoyed some shared learning time with the remaining Year 3's.

Here we are investigating shadows and working together to complete maths challenges.
